A message from Barbara Rackes, a member of the board of directors at the Institute, represents the introduction to the web-based training. The 11 minute video powered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina and IT-oLogy touches on the purpose of the Institute and the
benefits the webinars will provide. To the right of the video are the various topics women can click on to learn more about. These topics include campaign planning, fundraising and how to use social media as a campaign tool.
How Rackes describes the Institute:
- nonprofit
- nonpartisan
- issue neutral
- volunteer operated
What resources Rackes says are available:
- Information about districts
- Instructions on filing for office
- Contact information for consultants
- Profiles of other women entering the elections
Overall, the informational video, while a bit long, did touch on everything needed to understand what the training is about. Rackes says the Institute plays a "proactive role in helping women become part of the leadership in South Carolina." With the training promised in this video, the Institute is making moves to increase the number of women candidates this election year.
